Are you considering a trip to Las Vegas this weekend? Shame on you if you haven’t booked a room yet. Rooms at the Mandalay Bay are going for $500 on Saturday night and $459 at the Bellagio (pre-tax, Vegas.com).
Still, I know there are some of you who can only do Vegas if it’s on the fly, baby! Here are some room rates if you are rushing it – traffic might be thick on Friday afternoon and evening, so gas up and trust in knowing that gas is cheaper in Nevada and your return trip tank will be a bit easier on your wallet. If you can skip the traffic and leave Sunday morning, staying Sunday to Tuesday will be cheaper than staying Friday to Sunday.
Monte Carlo | Escape the uber-high holiday room rates at the Monte Carlo. Its Memorial Day Special has these rates on offer. Use promo code “FLAG” to get the lowered room rates.
Thursday, May 22: $60
Friday, May 23: $160
Saturday, May 24: $320
Sunday, May 25: $140
Monday, May 26: $70
Tropicana | Vegas.com has some good last-minute deals for the Tropicana this weekend. If you stay three nights, you’ll get an additional 20% off. When I tested the deal for May 24-26, it turned out Saturday was sold out. Tip: If you stay at the Tropicana from Sunday to Thursday (May 25-Aug. 28) you can roll the dice for a chance to win a $100 gas card.
Thursday, May 22: $41
Friday, May 23: $92
Saturday, May 24: $196
Sunday, May 25: $91
Monday, May 26: $41
Silverton | I considered Hotels.com’s average nightly rate of $59 for May 25-27 to be a great find. It’s part of its Summer Vacation Sale in which customers save 20%. The Silverton might be off the Strip, but it’s a clean and friendly hotel with a comfortable lodge feel. After taxes, a room for two nights came to $151.
Sunday, May 25: $79
Monday, May 26: $39

WHY would anyone go there? To get gouged? They give you nothing, but a receipt. Grossly overpriced! But then, the ’sheep’ keep jumping into the wolves’ frying pan, without any prompting…then, moan about being broke and ‘upside down’ on their mortgages….poor babies!

The Silverton:
it’s an ok place to stay, and the truck drivers from across the road mean Eats and plenty of it, but you might as well hand over your gambling cash right away and save the bother of trying to win anything.
