Hey travelers, are you taking a trip out to Vegas this summer? The weather is still comfortably in the 90s right now, but it’s forecast to hit a high of 104F on Saturday. Still, I’d call that pretty much perfect. Here are some activity ideas and deals if you’re bound for the Strip.
Father’s Day Weekend | Chill out at Clark County Government Center Amphitheater for an afternoon of reggae in the desert. Then rock-out at night — Stone Temple Pilots are playing at the Palms’ Pearl Theatre.
Spa Bellagio is offering a selection of special treatments for Dad including the “Athlete’s Revival,” an 80-minute custom sports massage that combines Thai stretching techniques with therapeutic pressure points; available through June 15, $225. The “Father’s Refresher” entitles Dad to an 80-minute sports massage before a 50-minute “facial; also valid through June 15, $370.
The Art of Shaving | Don’t forget about this luxe barber’s spa at Mandalay Place. There are a variety of services including haircuts, traditional shaves, scalp treatments and beard or goatee trims with a shave. Prices vary.
CineVegas | The 10th anniversary CineVegas Film Festival runs June 12–21 at the Palms and Brenden Theatres. The 2008 lineup will kick off with the premiere of “The Rocker” from director Peter Cattaneo, starring Rainn Wilson, and will finish off with Sean McGinly’s “The Great Buck Howard,” starring John Malkovich, Colin Hanks, Emily Blunt and Tom Hanks. Tickets cost $10 and can be bought online.
Hotel Deals | Excalibur has rooms set at $49 per night Sundays-Thursdays throughout July and August. It also includes $25 dining credit, $20 off cabana rental, and two free drinks at Drenched, the new pool bar. Weekend rates vary between $81 and $141 per night (pre-tax). Must book online by June 19, 2008.
Treasure Island | If you’re coming to the Strip during CineVegas, check out the deal at TI. They’re offering $15 food and beverage credit, $15 casino free play, $35 pool cabana discount, 10% discount on a spa treatment at Wet, the Spa and Salon at TI — all for rates starting at $109 per night.
