Lake Tahoe: Six days of skiing/snowboarding for $259

Sierra at Tahoe, Lake Tahoe, California

If you’re a skier or snowboarder, it’s not too early to start thinking about next season on the slopes — if you want the best deals, that is.

Season passes often provide the greatest value for the money, if you’re sure that you’ll have the time to take full advantage of the pass and you’re happy to do so at your one-and-only favorite resort. But for those of us Tahoe fans who appreciate more flexibility, the “Lake Tahoe Six Pack” is a good offer worth considering.

Deal: The Lake Tahoe Six Pack, which costs $259 (including taxes; add $9.95 for shipping), consists of six vouchers for all-day lift tickets. It’s a variety pack, with each voucher valid for your choice of two or three of the following resorts in Lake Tahoe: Heavenly, Kirkwood, Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe, Sierra-at-Tahoe, Alpine Meadows, Northstar-at-Tahoe and Squaw Valley USA. For instance, one voucher is valid at either Alpine Meadows or Northstar-at-Tahoe, while another is valid at Heavenly or Sierra-at-Tahoe. It could be a nice excuse to hop around the resorts and get a little change of scene and scenery.

Also, surprisingly, the passes are transferable. So if you can’t use up all six days yourself, you can pass them along to friends.

When: Buy now, as quantities are limited; there is no announced end date for this promotion. Six Pass vouchers are valid until April 30, 2009, or the end of the 2008-09 winter season. You can use them anytime, except during blackout dates (see the websites for those) — you don’t have to use them on consecutive days.

Note: The Six Packs will be shipped after Oct. 20, 2008.
