L.A. Times Travel & Adventure Show - Meet George Hobica

Grab a friend and come out to the 2008 Los Angeles Times Travel & Adventure Show this weekend at the Long Beach Convention Center.

George Hobica will join me, Johnny Jet and Juliana Shallcross on the panel “Online Travel Tips & Tricks From the Experts” Saturday at noon in Room 104A.

Here’s George’s short bio and nine quick things to know before you meet him on Saturday.

George Hobica is a travel journalist, consumer travel advocate and creator of Airfarewatchdog.com, which was named “Best Website of the Year” 2007 by the CW Television Network’s CyberGuy, Kurt Knutsson. The site searches for the lowest airfares available, regardless of source or airline, and provides consumers with tips on saving money, avoiding travel problems and fixing problems if they arise.

Best feature of your website: We list fares on all airlines including Southwest and Skybus, and also calculate and list the airlines’ increasingly common promo code fares.

What question you get asked the most about your job: Isn’t it tedious?

Travel booking tip you only tell your closest friends: Sign up for all the airlines’ newsletters, widgets and frequent flyer programs, because they market their best deals to those who do.
