Grab a friend and come out to the Los Angeles Times Travel & Adventure Show this weekend at the Long Beach Convention Center.
All this week we’ll be featuring bios from a few of the speakers and panelists. For a full list of speakers and a program schedule, please visit the 2008 Travel & Adventure Show website.
Juliana Shallcross will join me, George Hobica of AirfareWatchdog.com and Johnny Jet on the panel “Online Travel Tips & Tricks from the Experts” Saturday at noon in Room 104A.
Here’s Juliana’s short bio and nine quick things to know before you meet her on Saturday.
Juliana Shallcross has been the senior editor of HotelChatter.com since 2006. Prior to that, she worked at a weekly television magazine and a Los Angeles-area newswire, all the while freelancing for HotelChatter.
Website: HotelChatter.com, Jaunted.com
How Long You’ve Worked There: Since January 2005, full-time editor since 2006.
Best Feature of Your Website: All of it! But if I had to choose, everyone loves our Video Room Tours which we film ourselves.
Last Place You Traveled: San Francisco for the day, Las Vegas three weeks ago and NYC over Christmas.
How You Booked It: In Las Vegas, I camped out with 10 girls in two rooms at the Signature MGM Grand, which are really suites complete with mini-kitchens. The rooms are actually part of the condo-hotel program and my friend knew the owners. So I paid $100 for two nights!
Best Travel Deal You Found (and Used) in 2007: The Orchard Garden Hotel in San Francisco, a brand-new LEED green hotel for $169 on a Saturday night in April. Booked right on the site. Also, my Southwest Rewards free flights that I rack up.
What question you get asked most about your job: “Can you get me a hotel discount?”
Thanks Juliana, see you Saturday!
