Los Angeles Dodgers in China, The Great Wall of China

Happy St. Patrick’s Day travelers! I’m still in Chicago and amazed that a whole town can continue to celebrate one holiday for so long. It’s a lot of fun being here and,  compared with the winter weather Chicago has been getting lately, the 40- to 50-degree temperatures this weekend have been wonderful. If you haven’t seen it, check out the video of the Chicago River turning green.

Even though it’s St. Patrick’s Day, I couldn’t help but lead with a great shot of the Los Angeles Dodgers on the Great Wall of China. They’re world travelers! You can catch up with them in Phoenix for spring training this week.

It’s a little ironic that at the same time I’m writing this post, I’m also listening to Tony Nastasi talk about his life inside the mob on Coast to Coast AM and there is a Las Vegas mobster feature of the homepage of latimes.com. The article is about a Las Vegas mob bus tour — it sounds fun and informative. The question is, will there be a mob-themed hotel in Vegas someday?

Protests in Lhasa spread over the weekend: The Dalai Lama has asked China to stop using force during the protests in Tibet.

What’s your take? Join the debate that’s building in the Discussion area at the bottom of the latest LAT staff dispatch about Tibet by Mark Magnier.
