An elite corps of deranged and demented mentor monsters has been unleashed at Knott’s Berry Farm in an attempt to boost the screams-per-scare ratio at this year’s Halloween Haunt.
The 20-member Scare Force is a select team of skilled and seasoned monsters culled from the ranks of the 1,000-strong seasonal army of zombies, maniacs and the undead.

Each night during Knott’s Scary Farm, the Scare Force fans out to the Buena Park theme park’s 13 haunted mazes to train less experienced ghosts and ghouls in the fine art of fright, offering new scare strategies and suggesting improved hiding locations.
Working in pairs, the Scare Forcers change locations nightly and roam freely throughout their assigned maze, giving a boost of energy and unpredictability to the 36-year-old annual event.
The ringers wear no identifying insignia, but they can be recognized by their face makeup. Most maze monsters wear rubber masks.
