As Halloween Haunt 2008 draws to a close, Knott’s Berry Farm is already making plans for next year.
The Buena Park theme park works year-round to plan the annual event as well as Haunts for nine other Cedar Fair parks.

Throughout the year, a creative team develops concepts, themes and storyboards that are mapped out as ground and elevation plans that eventually become maze structures. Then the painters and costumers go to work. The final touches: adding atmosphere and developing “scares.”
Certain themes and concepts, drawn from movies and books, remain constant year after year: vampires, bloody gore, fantasy, tongue-in-cheek comedy and gimmicks (like 3-D and laser tag). And each season usually brings a movie tie-in.
This year’s Knott’s Scary Farm (which runs through Saturday, Nov. 1) includes 13 mazes — six of them brand-new for 2008. Most mazes last just a few years, some as long as five or six years. The constant flow of visitors takes a toll on the mazes — and those same visitors expect something new each season.
For 2009, Knott’s plans to change out at least two mazes, Lost Vegas and 13 Axe Murder Manor, and completely remake another maze — Asylum — with a similar theme. Re-theming or revamping other mazes remains a possibility.

I really am quite excited for this year.
Even though it wasn’t all that good last year, I want to see if they improve.
The last years before 2008 were pretty good but I was very dissapointed last year.
There wasn’t near as many monsters as there was the past years.
They also werent as scary, but I bet it will be much more entertaining this year. (:

Didn’t care for Knott’s Scary Farm 2008 due to lack of “people” scary us. Years past were very very scary compared to 2008. Hoping that 2009 is more scary and not so predictable. Looking forward to getting the dates for 2009 and to get scared this year!
