Knott’s Berry Farm adds six new mazes for Halloween Haunt 2008

Knott\'s Scary Farm\'s Halloween Haunt

With 13 haunted mazes for 2008, Knott’s Berry Farm’s Halloween Haunt offers a little something for everyone — blood, comedy, gore, fantasy and terror.

The Buena Park theme park adds six all-new mazes this year, with three of them ranking among the best and three ranking among the worst.

Quarantine, a movie tie-in maze, features an apartment house of ravenous zombies. It was my favorite by far, not because of the movie-set quality theming, but rather the relentless monsters. The monsters looked like real people, albeit foaming and bleeding at the mouth. They got in your face and stuck with the scare even after you shrank in fear.

Club Blood, an R-rated vampire nightclub, ranks a close runner-up for best maze. The scenes were at times sexy, scary, funny and bloody. It was so good, I went through twice.

Among the new mazes, the bronze medal goes to the Slaughterhouse, a Southern-style barbecue where the customers become the main course. Good scares and theming made for a rock-solid maze.

On the negative side of the ledger, the interactive laser tag Alien Annihilation maze suffers from mediocrity. “Interactive” apparently means the monsters stand around while you shoot at glow-in-the-dark targets. Yawn.

High expectations got the better of me at Corn Stalkers — easily my most anticipated new maze of 2008. Lots of corn and scarecrows but very few actual scares. Loooong.

But nothing blows as bad as the Labyrinth, a magical gothic-fantasy maze loosely based on “Pan’s Labyrinth.” Fairies and goblins don’t scare me — or fascinate me. Boring.

Of the seven returning Knott’s Scary Farm mazes, Asylum fares the best and Lost Vegas loses the most.

What do you think?

I liked all the mazes but i thought that killer clown kollge was kinda dull for bringing it back for another round at haunt but i liked the Asylum,Slaughterhouse,13 axe, and The Doll Factory best but the slaughterhouse was very very very gross but a good well thought out maze

    What?!
    you ranked labyrinth last?
it was the best maze at knotts, it was perfectly themed, it was something like never before.

Labyrinth was awesome and one of the best. Clown College was better than last year and should be kept i never seen so many people scared of Clowns it’s a must. I think the 3d alien should go although nice but not scary, bogus ! Las Vegas stunk it up again i went through twice the first time was good second time there was no one in the maze i counted 3 people it was basically a walk through w/no one in sight.
I went on 2 nights Thurs and Sun.
My Favorites were Labrynith, Quarantine, Cornstalkers, Club Blood, Slaughter House, even the log ride was the S–T, Oh well i had fun and like them all except LasVegas and Alien Annihilation. Peace Folks till next year.
