Want to join Prince, Jack Johnson, Roger Waters and thousands of festival-goers getting sweaty in the desert this weekend? Besides the aforementioned headliners, the star-studded performance line-up includes My Morning Jacket, Kraftwerk, Portishead, Love and Rockets, the Breeders and the Verve. If these names get your ears yearning to ring, pack up that SPF 70 sunscreen and get ready to experience Coachella — it’s not too late.
Tickets: Day passes are sold out (except for the limited quantity available at the box office on event days), but three-day passes ($269, excluding fees) and on-site camping passes ($55 regular, $700 and up for VIP “tent hotels”) are still available. Go to Coachella.com to purchase online or to find information for in-person purchase.
Check out the tickets forum on the festival site to buy or sell day passes or weekend passes. You could also see what’s cooking on Craigslist.
Ridesharing: Both sites also have ride-sharing information: see the carpools forum on the Coachella message boards, and Craigslist’s community boards. Coachella.com also lists other carpooling leads, including PickupPal, an easy way to arrange to get or give a ride.
Staying: Besides onsite camping, some off-site hotels still have availability. You won’t find much under $200 (pre-tax) per night.
Can’t swing it?: If you have to miss out this year, you can catch a webcast of the event on AT&T’s blue room.
Tip: For you planners out there who want to maximize every hour of your Coachella experience, be sure to use the “Coachooser,” an online tool that allows you to create your own schedule for the weekend.
When: April 25-27, 2008
