El Al airfare sale for Israel and Tel Aviv anniversary celebrations

Tel Aviv, Israel

This year marks Israel’s 60th anniversary, though its not as old as the city of Tel Aviv, which turns 100 next year.

Want to wish them both mazel tov in person? El Al can help.

The Israeli national carrier is offering a handful of special budget fares, including $991 round trip from New York’s JFK and Newark, N.J., to Tel Aviv.

The fare is good for departures before Nov. 30, with returns between Nov. 16 and Dec. 8, and for departures between Dec. 1 and 15, with returns from Dec. 16 to 29. (See El Al’s website for details.)

What’s more, El Al’s new code share partnership with American Airlines makes it possible for travelers to embark from about 30 U.S. gateways and to schedule a free stop-over in select European cities on the way to Tel Aviv.

But you won’t be alone. Last year more Americans traveled to Israel than ever before, and even bigger crowds are expected for Tel Aviv’s centenary.

The city is sprucing up by redoing its beachfront promenade, stretching 8.5 miles from Bat Yam to Herzliya, and will kick off the party on April 4 with a mega-concert in Rabin Square, headlined by maestro Zubin Mehta and the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.
