What if they threw a party and everyone came?
That’s kind of the idea behind the Neighborhood Inaugural Ball, the latest shindig planned by President-elect Barack Obama’s Presidential Inaugural Committee, which says it’s “the first official inaugural ball of its kind to be held during a presidential inauguration.”
The Jan. 20 ball will be held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, but how do you get tickets?
The committee isn’t saying yet, adding only that tickets will be free or affordable. And a block of tickets are being set aside for Washington, D.C., residents.
Apparently organizers also plan to have a “robust interactive component” via webcasts and texts so people nationwide can party together. So if you’re not in D.C., keep your cellphone handy.

I think this is great. I am a DC resident and would love to attend. But, I am going to see Jackson Browne at the Blue Diamond Ball. Maybe I could do both : )
