Last week, I blogged about Aloha Airlines’ 3 different fall airfare sales, including special deals for Thanksgiving vacations in Hawaii. Today, Farecast showed me how to score even cheaper airfares to the islands this fall. In fact, these are the best fares I’ve seen to some of the islands since late August.
Deal: From Tuesday, October 30 until Tuesday, November 6, 2007, you can fly to Oahu from LAX from $257.30 round trip on ATA. The next-cheapest LAX–Oahu airfare (October 30-November 7) on Hawaiian Airlines cost only $10 more, but there were not as many seats left.
During that same time period, Farecast told me that I could fly to Kona on the Big Island for $364 round trip via Orbitz. But when I checked Orbitz, the lowest airfare available was $401 with American Airlines. However, when I tried booking directly on the American Airlines website, I paid only $360.
Have you found cheaper flights to Hawaii? Tell us how in the Comments section below.
More…details: For flights to Maui, Farecast predicted $359 round-trip flights from LAX (November 6-14) via Orbitz. That deal held up when I tried booking it myself on Orbitz, but it was for a combination of carriers: Northwest Airlines and Mesa Airlines (i.e., go!).
Caveat: Act wiki wiki. The airfares on Farecast may not be available through the airlines by the time you click through to book them.
Why Go: Avoid the crowds by hitting the islands before Thanksgiving. Avoid high airfares by going to Hawaii before mid-December, when hotel room rates will rise lasting through April of 2008.
Why Not: The weather during November in Hawaii is unpredictable. Will it be sunny or stormy?

Dear jfd:
That’s a great fall airfare to Oahu! Where’d you find it? Via an airline’s website or an online travel booking agent?
Thanks for the info,
