
If you’re going to be on Oahu, Hawaii, over 4th of July weekend, you’ll wish you had a clone to help tackle all the fun must-dos on the island. You could rock out all weekend at a Marine base to the likes of 3 Doors Down and Everclear. You could set sail for a good cause. Or you could enjoy more traditional food-and game-filled festivities. Annual July 3 Fireworks Extravaganza; Aloha Tower Marketplace, Honolulu: The shops and restaurants here will be in on the fun at this free family-friendly event with music, face painting, a fashion show, food and drink specials, and more. Sunset Sail with Wild Side Specialty Tours, Waianae Coast: A fundraiser for the Wild Dolphin Foundation, this three-hour catamaran trip will set off just before sunset and take in not only fireworks-viewing but also narrated star-and planet-gazing. Independence Day at Maunalua Bay, East Honolulu: This free festival will bustle with food and civic booths, musical and dance entertainment, games and canoe rides. BayFest 2008, Marine Corps Base at Kaneohe Bay: The star lineup for this huge concert event includes Little Big Town, Rodney Atkins, 3 Doors Down, Live and Everclear. Ticket prices, if purchased through TicketMaster, range from $24-$29 for a day pass to $48-$58 for a multi-day pass (before taxes and fees). Don’t worry, you won’t be missing out on sparklers if you opt for this event – each evening ends with a fireworks show. Contact: BayFest, (808) 254-7679
Ala Moana Fourth of July Fireworks & Concert; Honolulu: There will be entertainment all weekend at this shopping mall, but its fireworks will set off at 8:30 p.m. on Friday night. If you’re looking to get some shopping in, be sure to download, off of its website, the 20% savings pass for the July 4th weekend. Contact: Ala Moana Center, (808) 955-9517.

I was at the Hawaii Kai event and it was the classiest fireworks event that I ever attended. Shuttle busses from and to ample parking, environmental booths, multiple school fundraising. Great fun and awesome fireworks.
