Hawaii: Four Seasons Maui offers cheapest rate in four years

Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea

Say ‘aloha’ to Hawaiian luxury for less. These economically downtrodden days, you can get more for your money all over the islands, even at the first-class Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea. The AAA five-diamond and Mobil five-star property is offering its cheapest rates in four years.

Deal: The special current rate for standard mountainside rooms is $395 per night (pretax). When taking into account the complementary “extras” included with this rate, it’s particularly appealing. Freebies include use of poolside cabanas; a lei greeting and oshibori towels upon arrival; canoe excursions off Wailea Beach; daily intro fitness classes; oceanfront yoga classes; use of snorkel equipment plus an hour of snorkeling every day; introductory scuba clinics, twice daily; and a children’s program.

No extra resort fee is charged. Parking costs $20 per day.

When: This rate is available now through June 26, 2009. From June 27 to Aug. 22, the rate increases to $445. It dips down again to $395 from Aug. 23 to Dec. 17.

The projected rate, as of now, for most of 2010 is $552 per night, so the message the resort probably wants to convey: This year, 2009, is your year to save on luxury.

Connect/disconnect: High-speed wireless Internet access is available in all guest rooms for an additional $14 per 24 hours. But you can hop on the Web for free in the resort’s game rooms and business center.
