Hawaii: 10,000 Hilton HHonors points & 2x miles

L.A. Times Waikiki & Oahu Beaches photo galleryHilton Hotels is a major player in the Hawaii resorts market, so chances are you’ve thought about staying at one of their island properties before. Now they’re giving you three more good reasons to do so with “Mahalo Doubles Miles” deals being offered this fall at six Hilton, Doubletree and Embassy Suites properties on Oahu, the Big Island and Kauai.

Deal: Stay at least four nights this fall at the Hilton Kauai Beach Resort, Hilton Waikoloa Village, Hilton Waikiki Prince Kuhio, Hilton Hawaiian Village, Embassy Suites–Waikiki Beach Walk or the Doubletree Alana Hotel–Waikiki and you’ll receive 10,000 Hilton HHonors points (joining the Hilton’s guest rewards program is free), double frequent-flyer miles from participating airlines and a free spa-style bathrobe.

I found that the rates for this deal were the same as the “best available rates” at participating hotels, but slightly higher (averaging 5% more) than the cheapest Net Direct rates. When booking this deal at a Hilton property, use promotional code H9 or check the box for “10,000 points and double miles” on the online reservations page. When making reservations at the Embassy Suites or Doubletree hotels, use promotional code HH9.

Are you a member of HHonors? Are the rewards worth it for frequent travelers only? Give us your opinion in the Comments section below.

When: This special offer is valid from August 26th through December 3rd, 2007 (subject to availability).

Caveat: Participating airlines are: Aeromexico, Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, All Nippon Airways, American Airlines, Asiana Airlines, Cathay Pacific Airways, Continental Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Hawaiian Airlines, Japan Airlines, Lufthansa, Mexicana Airlines, Midwest Airlines, Northwest Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Southwest Airlines, United and US Airways.

Why Go: The Hilton Kauai Beach Resort and the Big Island’s Hilton Waikoloa Village are deluxe, family-friendly oceanfront resorts. If you’re headed to Waikiki, Hilton has four different upscale hotels to choose from.

Why Not: The Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort & Spa on Oahu is undergoing renovations. Also, if you’re not a member of a frequent-flyer program or flying to Hawaii with a participating airline, this is not such an attractive deal.

Connect: Most Hilton properties in Hawaii offer high-speed Internet access for guests, though the type of access (i.e., wireless vs. wired), location (i.e., in guest rooms or the hotel’s business center) and daily surcharge varies.
