Hard Rock Hotel San Diego stages poolside ‘Intervention’

Intervention Sundays at Hard Rock Hotel San Diego

San Diego is starting to sound a little like Vegas (or, well, Hollywood). At least on a certain fourth-floor rooftop in the Gaslamp Quarter. At Hard Rock Hotel’s Float lounge every Sunday, schools of the 21-and-over set gather for the city’s most popular “daylife” dance club.

Wearing little and, one would assume, drinking a lot, the masses gather in and out of the pool for “Intervention Sundays,” which brings top DJs and crowds that weekly come close to maxing the space’s 1,400-person capacity, according to a spokesperson for the hotel.

The above photo was taken May 24, when DJ Paul Oakenfold was on deck. It must have been taken early, before things really got going, because a Google search brought up other photos from the day that provide a more — shall we say — vibrant look at the day’s festivities.

(And no, I didn’t post anything — especially nothing that wouldn’t get a G rating — after the page jump. You’ll just have to search around the Web on your own if you’re that curious.)

Ready to leave your wading pool and test out the heady Hard Rock waters? Here are the DJs scheduled in coming weeks: Sid Vicious on May 31, Theron on June 7, Vice on June 14 and Scotty Boy on June 21. You can even make an overnight of it — see the “hotel deal” below.

When: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., every Sunday now through Sept. 2009

Cost: Tickets start at $20 per adult for general admission. Prices vary depending on the entertainment lined up for the day.

Hotel deal: Party by day and recover by night with the “IV Package,” which includes a studio room on Sunday night, two admittances to the Sunday party and VIP access for the party, for $149 per couple (pre-tax).
