England & Scotland: Harry Potter fan trips

HP Fan Trips logoAre your kids nuts about J. K. Rowling’s Harry Potter books? Are they distraught knowing that the series is soon coming to an end? Cheer them up with one of the magical Harry Potter Fan Trips heading to England and Scotland this summer.

Deal: There are only a few trips still available for 2007. Your family can visit London or Edinburgh for a three- or four-night stay, including VIP entrance to a bookstore release party for the final installment of the Harry Potter series. The package price varies depending on which hotel you choose to stay at (from $949/person for double occupancy, excluding airfare). If you pick the Edinburgh trip, you can also add on a fantasy train ride in the same Hogwarts Express carriages seen in the Harry Potter movies for an extra $100/person, plus $70/person for the transfer from Edinburgh to the highlands train station.

More..details: Harry Potter fan trips are not just for kids. The nine-day/eight-night Sorcerer trip (from $2849/person for double occupancy, excluding airfare) to Oxford and Scotland offers teens and adults a chance to get into the magical swing of things, including with a vintage steam train ride, a banquet at Edinburgh Castle and a VIP movie release party for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

When: Book as soon as possible, since available spaces for these trips are limited. The tour for teens and adults leaves July 10th, 2007. The book-release trips depart on July 18th, 2007. The themed train ride takes place on July 22nd, 2007.

Why Go: Indulge your fan-based Harry Potter fantasies with a bunch of like-minded kids and adults.

Why Not: You could plan your own family vacation for less and still attend a Harry Potter book-release party and movie screening. If you time it right, you could even take the fantasy train ride as an à la carte excursion.
