Gas prices on the rise…still; President Bush travels to Europe; beer festivals

A gas station in Los Angeles

Good morning travelers! There’s more bad news at the pump. When I heard about the 19-cent price jump in the last week, it didn’t surprise me. The new average price for a gallon of regular gas in California is $4.43

Budget Travel News | It’s no surprise with the high price of gas, that Megabus decided to cease its cheap bus transportation in Los Angeles. Routes from L.A. to Vegas ended this last weekend, with L.A. to San Francisco ending June 22 (L.A. to Phoenix ended in January and service between L.A. and San Diego ended in March). Still, I’m sad to see them go. I enjoyed my one trip between L.A. and Vegas when they opened.

Celeb Travel | President Bush is in Europe this week. He’s there on business, but wouldn’t it be cool if we got to hear about his visit to Germany, Rome, London, Paris and Ireland? Here’s a day-by-day itinerary of Bush’s trip, which includes a trip to the Vatican; Mont Valerien, home to a French World War II memorial; and Windsor Castle.

Beer Festivals | Thirsty? Check out 11 great beer festivals of the West including destinations such as Colorado; Portland, Oregon; and, in California, Monterey and San Diego.

[For the Record: This blog previously said that the the Megabus L.A. to San Francisco route was ending June 15, but we were misinformed. We have corrected the post to reflect this change. We have also made a factual correction to the price of an average gallon of gas in California. It did say $4.325 and now says $4.43.]

  1. Tom Says:

Actually, Megabus will end of west coast service on June 22( Sunday), now all the one-way fare from LA union station to SF caltrain station for $36 one-way, much cheaper than Greyhound, amtrak, and chinatown bus such as goto bus, they charge ($60 one-way, more than Southwest ding fare)

I miss megabus too, I have taken dozen of trip.
