In James Gilden’s article, “Take action to keep your hard-earned frequent-flier miles,” he recommends taking a short, quick flight on the airline. Well, go for it. United is offering their Mileage Plus members their award flights for less miles. Get to Hawaii or Las Vegas for only 15,000 miles each way. And, if you want to cruise, check out Delta’s extra SkyMiles offer.
United Mileage Plus
Fly from Los Angeles (LAX) to Las Vegas (LAS) for only 15,000 miles. You can actually get the 15,000 mile-tickets for any non-stop United domestic flights that are 700 miles or less each way. The offer is good September 1 through December 14, 2007. Contact: United Award Travel for 15,000
Delta SkyMiles
Delta is offering up to 30,000 SkyMiles if you book a cruise by September 30, 2007. The longer you cruise the more you get. The bulk of the extra miles comes from upgrading to a balcony or suite. To earn the full 30,000 miles you need to take a 13+ day cruise and book a balcony or suite. A week-long cruise in a balcony or suite gets you 9,000 miles.
