Free phone calls to China and Myanmar

A working water filter at a school in Myanmar.

As the death tolls mount in China and Myanmar, worry deepens in friends and relatives waiting to hear word about their loved ones. If the high cost of international calling has kept you from trying to reach out, help is here. Rebtel is offering free calls to people who are trying to get in touch with friends and relatives in China and Myanmar until May 22, 2008.

How it works: You give them your mobile number and the number you are trying to call, and they give you a local number to call. All they ask is that you join Rebtel, which is free and just asks for your name, location and e-mail address.
