Hot enough for you yet? If you can’t get enough of the heat, think about taking the kids to sunny Florida this summer, where you can find smokin’ hot room rates at various hotels and resorts around Orlando, especially with online discount travel agents like Hotwire’s Travel Ticker.
Deal: When I checked the website earlier, Travel Ticker was was offering deep discounts on rooms at a handful of Orlando hotels. Although the Walt Disney World Resort deal looked tempting, it was almost sold out. The cheapest hotel listed wasn’t one I’d recommend. But there were some other good deals worth investigating.
For example, this summer you can get a deluxe room plus buffet breakfast for two at the Rosen Plaza Hotel from $89.75/night including taxes; that’s 30-60% off the best available online rates. Although it’s a business-oriented convention hotel, the Rosen Plaza is located near SeaWorld and the Walt Disney World Resort (complimentary shuttle service for guests). It has amenities for vacationing families, too, including an outdoor heated swimming pool and babysitting services. Book online or call the hotel directly for reservations; ask for the “Summer Sizzle” rate.
When: The offer is valid for stays on select dates from July 14 through September 25, 2007. The following black-out dates apply: July 17-24, July 25-August 11, August 24-25 and September 5-20.
Why Go: A 3-plus star hotel in central Orlando for under $100/night is a steal, even without the free breakfast.
Why Not: A vacation rental home might work out to be a better deal for big families.
Connect: In-room, high-speed Wi-Fi Internet access costs $9.95/day (or $12.95/day for a VPN connection). Beware of a separate charge for using Wi-Fi in public areas of the hotel, like the lobby.
