Five bonus photos of Your Scene in Travel 2008

This polar bear is a keeper– as are many of the photos that readers of the L.A. Times Travel section submitted this year to our regular feature Your Scene.

Here’s a celebration of our readers’ best work–and the ultimate souvenir: Your Scene in Travel: Our favorite reader photo submissions of 2008.

And here are five bonus submissions that we picked to feature in our last Travel section of 2008.

Call it ‘Brisbane blue’: Lachlan Kay of Oxnard spotted this architectural lighting feature while walking along the river in downtown Brisbane, Australia. His camera: a Canon EOS 400D.

A geologic ‘New York City’ skyline: Peter Ambrose of Claremont took this shot in the Red Flute cave in Guilin, China, about 350 miles northwest of Hong Kong. “Our guide called the scene ‘New York City,’ a geologic feature with a reflection in a shallow pool of water.” Ambrose used available light, a Nikon D300 and a 17-55 f2.8 lens.

White becomes her: robert Kraft and his family spotted this scene in Akko, Israel, just south of the Lebanese border. “As we were leaving the restaurant … the bride stepped out of a car in the middle of the village street and I snapped this photo,” says Kraft, who lives in Encino. Serenity at sunup: Daisy Cara of Baldwin Park thought “beautiful” as she woke up to the sun rising over the Sea of Galilee. She took this from her hotel room in Tiberias, Israel, using a Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-P200.
