El Al’s 3-day sale on Israel flights begins tomorrow

El Al

If you’re thinking about a trip to Israel this fall, get up and at ‘em tomorrow morning to flight-shop, as El Al is offering a sale on certain roundtrips this September. Israel’s national airline has announced that passengers flying from Los Angeles (LAX) and New York/Newark (JFK/EWR) to Tel Aviv can save up to $200 with its three-day sale.

Deal, or no deal?: The sale fares will be bookable through El Al’s “iFLY Spontany Special Deal” website. Roundtrip nonstop fares from LAX will begin at $1,099 per person (including all taxes and fuel surcharges), according to a spokesperson for the airline.

Today I’m looking at non-sale El Al flights in early September, and the total fares are around $1,427 and up through the airline’s website. (This seems to represent even more than $200 in savings with the sale, but it’s possible that either and/or both the non-sale and sale fares will change.) Through Orbitz, for the same dates, I’m seeing a US Airways flight that matches El Al’s sale fare of $1,099 (including taxes and fees), but it involves a stop in Philadelphia. If you want a good fare for nonstop flights, it seems the El Al sale is the way to go.

When: The sale runs Tuesday, June 9, at 6 a.m. (PST) until Thursday, June 11, at 8:59 p.m. From Los Angeles, sale seats will be available for departures between Sept. 3 and Sept. 21, 2009.
