Good morning travelers! The weekend is here. Are you doing anything for Earth Day? Here’s an easy-to-scan round-up of Earth Day weekend events in the greater L.A. area and beyond. Emerald City also lists ideas for how to participate in Earth Day.
LAX | Have you WBI-ed? (I’m pronouncing it wee-beed.) LAX now has the body scanners that the Transportation Security Administration is using on random passengers. The machine is actually called the Millimeter Wave Whole Body Imaging Technology and is located at Terminal 5 at LAX. Right now these scans, which turn out black-and-white, three-dimensional images, are optional. If you are selected for a secondary screening, you can opt for the WBI or the pat-down. I’d take the scan over the pat-down any day, what about you?
AIRLINES | Here are two takes on US Airways’ move to charge for aisle and window seats. Upgrade: Travel Better vents about this decision and reminds us it’s not a new change (Northwest did it in 2006) and The Cranky Flier sees it as an opportunity for non-elite customers to get better seats. Which side of the debate do you ride on? I lean towards Cranky.
FAMILY TRAVEL| Delicious Baby, a helpful tip-focused blog from a mom who loves to travel, wrote a post on how to survive flight delays with kids. She references other resources around the Web and offers first-hand tips from her own experience.

Something for nothing? It’s not as if you get legroom for a fee.
Empty bag? No, it’s worse than that, since the chump in the now sought-after free middle seat will piss off the bigger chumps who paid for the view and the aisle.
Stupid is as stupid does, of course, and Airways takes the prize.
That’s just for today, though, because we can be sure some dim-witted CMO of a competitor will one-up any given level of stupidity and surpass Airways — with UAL on the short-list.
