For Disney’s California Adventure in Anaheim, California, 2008 will be out with the old parade and in with the same-old, same-old parade.
Gone is the under-loved Block Party Bash parade starring Pixar characters from “Toy Story,” “The Incredibles,” “Monsters Inc.” and “A Bug’s Life.” Taking Block Party’s place in summer 2008 will be the Pixar Play Parade starring — wait for it — all those same characters (plus a few more from “Finding Nemo,” “Cars” and “Ratatouille”).
The awkwardly named Pixar Play Parade promises periodic “wet zones” along the route, according to a post by master mouse sleuth Darkbeer over at MiceAge (MiceChat).
Block Party will be boxed up and shipped to Orlando, Florida, where it will be repackaged as a brand-new parade at the soon-to-be-renamed Disney’s Hollywood Studios (currently Disney-MGM Studios).
Is this just plain stupid or marketing genius?

what kind of writing is this. To use a person like darkbeer which has obviously had serious problems with everything Disney does as a source for an article is so irresponsible.
Block party Bash has not been a dissapointment for the park. It has actually seen huge crowds and has actually been given high score by guests.
The new parade will not be the same as the old (unless you will also ciritice every other parade done in any Disney park as the same since they use the same characters over and over)
I f you would like to be taken seriously, i suggest you act like a responsible writer and find sources and information that is accurate.

Let me start by stating that I am “Darkbeer”, otherwise known as David Michael, and yes, I have written articles/provided material for MiceAge, MousePlanet, JimHillMedia, DCA Central and others.
I have said MANY complementary things about Disney and what they offer. Have I pointed out problems and other “non 100% positive” things about Disney and how they run their Theme Parks, yes I have. But to try and label me as having a problem with everything Disney does is so far off base, it is just silly…
As for Problems with Block Party Bash, it is clear with the actions Disney has taken since it was offered, starting with the removal of one of the three show stops, then the cutback in days it was offered, original 7 days a week year round, then a cutback to 5, and then just 3 during the off-season points out that the Block Party Bash was not delivering what it was expected to do when it was introduced for Disneyland’s 50th Anniversary. Also the cast of BPB was cut from about 120 to just 80, and the parade also lost a float and was shortened in length.
These are not signs of a “hit” parade, and yes, even with all the early marketing (anybody remember the Red Cones they placed in the Tram Loading Areas and the Main Entry Plaza) it still didn’t get the expected crowd size.
Here is hoping that when the Pixar Play! Parade opens (last I hear mid-March, 2008, to match up with the start of the peak Easter/Spring Break season) will be a bigger hit than Block Party Bash.

its amazing how naive and ignorant people are. do they even hear whats coming out of they’re mouths. they obviously are dumbasses when it comes knowing how production and disney works. congrats to all of you for being idiotic and completely oblivious to what you you say and write.

So wait, can I be a respected Disney rumormonger too? I also don’t know what I’m talking about, I also spend an unhealthy amount of time and money at the Beer Truck and I also slobber at the heels of Al Lutz. Yay!

Cite actual numbers, please, Brady. Everything at the Parks is reduced during the off-season; that’s why it’s the off-season. These things don’t become facts simply because David Michael and his MiceChat klatch would like them to be.

By the way, it has been Disney’s Hollywood Studios since early January. The MGM name is already history.

Maybe you should actually go watch the new parade before you write this [bleep]. Eventhough it’s based on the same movies, it has completely changed. And it has nothing to do with maketing. I recently worked the new parade and more than half the guests visiting the park didn’t even know there was a new parade! I haven’t seen or heard a single tv or radio commercial advertising this parade. Have you ever even considered that Disney would merely like to bring Walt’s dreams to life?
