Disney debuts Pixar Play Parade on March 14

Pixar Play Parade

Concept art of the Pixar Play Parade debuting at Disney’s California Adventure on March 14 shows a series of floats and performers that squirt water and blow bubbles into the audience.

The new parade, replacing the underwhelming Block Party Bash, stars Pixar movie characters from “Toy Story,” “The Incredibles,” “Monsters Inc.,” “A Bug’s Life,” “Finding Nemo,” “Cars” and “Ratatouille.”

An “Incredibles” float features an Omnidroid robot with villain Syndrome at the helm and a flaming baby Jack-Jack atop the ominous automaton. Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl and Frozone fly personal hovercrafts alongside the floats.

Pixar Play ParadeWet zones along the parade route promise “interactive surprises.” Buzz Lightyear flies a rocket ship with a water laser in the front and water vapor exhaust in the back. Mr. Potatohead’s flower lapel squirts unsuspecting parade watchers. And Nemo and Dory puppets blow bubbles as if they’re under water.

Check out MiceAge’s Dateline Disney column for a promotional video on the parade and Blue Sky Disney for additional concept art.

  1. Mike Torres Says:

I am guessing that the comment about Block Party Bash being underwelming is just the opinion of the writer.
The parade was a big success and actually was given high marks by people for its fun interactive and spirited appeal.

  2. Brady MacDonald Says:

The soft opening of Pixar Play Parade at Disney’s California Adventure begins today, March 10, according to Blue Sky Disney.

MiceAge’s Monday in the Parks column promises a soft opening “this week” in advance of the official opening on Friday, March 14.

MousePlanet’s Disneyland Update notes the Annual Passholder preview at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday, March 13.

Disneyland won’t confirm a soft opening date.
