DiscoverAmerica.com, a new ‘official’ U.S. travel website, launches today

DiscoverAmerica.com

The U.S. Travel Assn. today launched a new website called DiscoverAmerica.com, deemed the “Official Travel and Tourism Website of the United States.”

The website, a subsidiary of the nonprofit travel organization, casts itself in the role of culling information from “the most trusted and official sources in travel, from state tourism offices and convention and visitors bureaus to agencies such as the National Park Service and Scenic Byways.”

The new site’s 7,000 pages, which will be updated regularly, also draw from Fodor’s, American Express, Google and other sources of travel information. And, of course, there’s a widget on travel deals.

My favorite thing: the official links page, where you can sort by region, destination or state.
