You can stay in Denver for as little as $52.80 per night, taking advantage of summer discounts that stretch into fall. Under a citywide program, just extended through October, more than two dozen hotels offer deals such as $52.80 rates for the second night’s stay or as little as $99 for the first.
Why 52.80? Because Denver is known as the Mile-High City, and there are 5,280 feet in a mile, says the Denver Convention & Visitors Bureau, which runs the program.
You can save a lot with this program, judging from a test run I did using Courtyard by Marriott Denver Downtown. Here’s what I found:
Deal: When I searched for an Aug. 21-22 (Friday-Saturday) stay on Courtyard’s website, the best rate offered was $119 per night, for a total, with tax, of $273.34 for two nights. But when I entered the deal code “UKH” under “Corporate /Promotional Rate,” and ran the search again, it showed $99 for the first night and $52.80 for the second, for a total, with tax, of $174.34. Savings: $99.
Upsides: Not only did I save, but with the deal, I could cancel without penalty up to 4 p.m. Aug. 21, The $119 price was an advance-purchase rate, which was nonrefundable. (The lowest refundable rate was $139 plus tax.)
Downsides: The deal is subject to availability, so if a big convention hits town, for instance, you may not be able to get the deal. In another hotel I checked, the deal didn’t seem to be available.
Contact: A special website lists participating hotels, along with info on how to book the deal at each one, including, in some cases, a link to its online booking engine; on others, you have to call. When I linked through the site to the Courtyard by Marriott, it automatically filled in the deal’s promotional code for my search.

Great find! I’ve stayed at the downtown Marriott and it’s quite convenient. I’d definitely stay there again and try your suggestion on getting a better rate!
