Are you craving a weekend getaway? Try something a little different from the last trip to the winery or the beach. Denver, which was in the spotlight during the Democratic National Convention, is a good getaway choice this and any other month because of its arts and culture scene. Denver Arts Week is coming up Nov. 14-22, 2008, and there are all sorts of museums opening their doors for free on the first night.
Deal: Denver’s Night at the Museums is Nov. 14, 2008, and selected museums will offer free admission from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Each museum (listed below) will have special programming for this event. Flights: United has tickets as low as $272 round trip, including tax, while seats on Southwest were upward of $335 round trip, including tax. A quick search on Kayak returned fares of $227 round trip, including tax, on U.S. Airways.
Ground transportation: Once you’re in Denver, there will be free shuttles starting at 4:30 p.m. taking passengers from museum to museum. Just park your car at the Cherry Creek Shopping Center. Shuttles will also be available at the Denver Art Museum.
