Deal, no deal? Las Vegas’ Palazzo + perks from $159/night

The new Palazzo Resort Hotel Casino on the Las Vegas Strip is spinning off from a similar deal neighboring big sister Venetian had last month by offering its Palazzo Luxury Suites with a king bed and sofa sleeper from $159 on weekdays and $199 on weekends (pre-tax) through Sept. 7 for those who book by June 2. As part of their online-only Sublime Summer package, there are added perks and discounts at the on-site stores, restaurants and casino. But how much of a deal is it? Depends on if you’re looking for the high life or just a relaxing vacation with a few perks.

The enormous property opened in January amid much fanfare – particularly among the foodie community, which was anticipating the multitude of restaurant openings by celeb chefs, such as Mario Batali’s new Carnevino and Wolfgang Puck’s Vegas version of Cut.

Although these meat-friendly spots aren’t part of this package, you do get 50% off a bottle of wine per table with an entree purchase at Morels French Steakhouse & Bistro and 20% off your meal at the Pan-Asian restaurant Woo. This is great for those looking to stretch their dollar a bit and who don’t want to deal with as much of a scene. But it may not appeal to those who seek out high-end restaurants like baseball devotees who are determined to visit every ballpark.

It would be great if this package included a discount to the resort’s Canyon Ranch SpaClub, but instead they’ve ponied up for a free makeover and mini-facial with a purchase at Fresh in the Shoppes at the Palazzo.

There’s also a $25 gaming credit. Hey, we’re always fine with that.

A test of dates showed that prices and availability held true for the end of May and most of June and July, although Saturday spots were going fast.
