Clear fast-pass at LAX for Delta customers; Free Wi-Fi from Boingo this weekend
Good morning travelers! For many of you, today is the end of the work week. I hope you enjoy a nice long Fourth of July weekend.
Local | PCH was closed earlier this morning southbound at Flores Canyon Road and northbound at Topanga Canyon Boulevard because of a fire in Malibu. It was expected to open around 7.a.m., but check our Live Traffic Report to double check.
Airline news | Do you fly Delta? If yes, you could speed through security with the Clear fast-pass system starting at the end of July. Imagine being able to get to the airport only 25 minutes ahead of departure. Clear uses fingerprints and eye scanners to get members through Transportation Security Administration checkpoints. Deals | Get some free Wi-Fi this weekend. Boingo is celebrating Independence Day by giving out a free day’s worth of Wi-Fi. Just download GoBoingo –- a service that alerts you when you’re in a Boingo hotspot. Boingo has Wi-Fi access at more than 500 airports and 17,000 hotels including LAX. Rates are normally $21.95 a month.

I joined Clear Pass and must say that after using it several times at different airports I am MORE THAN THRILLED about the time that it has saved me virtually every time I used it! I found the attendants at the Clear Pass lanes were cheerful and helpful (probably because the work load is way light — there was NEVER anyone else on the clear pass line!) and helped me through security quickly. I felt like a rock star going to the head of the line EVERY TIME with the Clear Pass attendants carrying my bags and smiling all the way. One flight I had that was in a way overcrowded airport with regular line out the door, saved me at least an hour by using the Clear Pass. I recommend Clear Pass to anyone who has little patience to wait in a line that inches along and would rather sit at the gate relaxing.
