In these times teeming with travel bargains, there are a lot of “free night” deals out there — you may have seen a few here on this blog. Getting a last night free, after a certain number of paid nights, can be a good deal, but Choice Hotels’ new fall promotion offers the same idea with an interesting twist.
Deal: Stay three consecutive nights at any Choice Hotels property (over 5,500 to choose from), and you’ll earn points redeemable for one free night applicable for a future stay at any one of 1,500-plus select properties. Most of these redemption-friendly properties are within the U.S., Canada and Mexico, but there are some in some fun, far-flung places. You must be a member of the Choice Privileges reward program to take advantage of this offer, but signing up online is easy and free.
Budget-to-midrange brands under the Choice umbrella include Cambria Suites, Comfort Inn, Comfort Suites, Quality Inn, Sleep Inn, Clarion, MainStay Suites, Suburban Extended Stay Hotel, Econo Lodge, and Rodeway Inn hotels. Your free stay can be chosen from hotels in the 8,000-point reward-level group. See a full list here.
Boring, say you? Though a number of the select redemption locations at this point level are not in hot tourist sites, some are, and others make useful resting points on road trips. For a chain budget hotel, the Econo Lodge on 16th Street (pictured above) in Sacramento gets generally positive traveler reviews on TripAdvisor. The Econo Lodge on Harbor Boulevard in Anaheim doesn’t fare as well in the user-generated-critique arena. But it has location, location: According to the hotel’s front desk, it’s just a 15-to-20-minute walk to Disneyland.
There are even some foreign hotels where you can redeem your free night, such as the Comfort Inn in Akita, Japan, or 10 hotels in France. A number of Choice Hotels properties offer free WiFi.
When: Your three-night stay must occur between now and Nov. 19. Allow 72 hours from the time of your checkout for the points (for your future stay) to post to your member account. Your points are valid until the Dec. 31 that occurs two years after the year during which the points were accrued.
