Beijing: China’s Forbidden City at a less forbidding cost

Forbidden City, BeijingExplore Beijing at bargain rates this winter on a weeklong package priced from $999 per person, double occupancy.

THE DEAL: The Ritz Tours special, which includes round-trip airfare, hotel accommodations and sightseeing, is available with daily departures from Los Angeles and San Francisco from Nov. 1, 2007 to Feb. 10, 2008.

THE PACKAGE: Travelers stay at the New Otani Hotel in Beijing for five nights, receive breakfast daily, two lunches and go sightseeing two days with local tour guides. The itinerary includes Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City and the Temple of Heaven. There will also be a trip to the Great Wall and the Ming Tombs Museum. Two days are at your leisure.

THE DETAILS: Taxes of $195 per person are not included. The $999 rate is available Dec. 1 to 7 and Jan. 1 to Feb. 10. Higher rates of $1,099 to $1,299 are charged at other times. Travelers who depart on a weekend will pay a surcharge of $50 per person.
