Chicago - Donald Trump opens another hotel

Trump Chicago Hotel

The Trump International Hotel & Tower Chicago is now open. Glenn Jeffers, the Chicago Sleeps columnist for the Chicago Tribune’s At Play, spent the night at the new Trump hotel and gave a play-by-play of his stay (which was paid for by the Tribune). Read, “Live From Trump Tower” to take a tour of the room and hear about the high-end room snacks and the surprising cost of a shoe shine. Yes, the Stearns & Foster beds come with pillow-top mattresses and 500-thread-count sheets.

The hotel and residential tower is only partially open. When it is finished next year, it will become the second-tallest building in Chicago. It will be 1,362 feet tall and have 92 floors.

Deal or no deal? Throughout the hotel’s first year, room rates will be slashed from $525 per night to $355 per night (pre-tax). Ask for the “Trump Experience” rates, which will be valid based on availability. Even better, when I checked the website for reservations in March, I found the “Trump Experience” rates as low as $325/night in March for a 600-square-foot deluxe king city-view room with a kitchen.
