Cheap deals on United flights to Moscow for March/April travel, up to 10,000 bonus miles too

United Airlines is celebrating its nonstop capital-to-capital service between Washington Dulles and Moscow Domodedovo beginning March 29 by offering low fares to Moscow from departure cities across the U.S. You can get some great deals if your schedule is flexible enough. Book by March 26 for travel to be completed by April 29, 2009. Best prices are for U.S. outbound travel on Tuesdays and Thursdays with return travel on Mondays and Wednesdays. I found fares less than $500 from Los Angeles and less than $350 round trip, including tax, from the East Coast.

Sample one-way promo fares, pre-tax:

$171 – Washington, D.C.
$164 – Boston
$178 – Chicago
$197 – Denver
$191 – Houston
$119 – New York
$225 – San Francisco
$218 – Seattle

Tested: When I looked on FareCompare, a last-minute round-trip flight between San Francisco (SFO) and Moscow (MOW) March 26-April 8, 2009 cost $879 including taxes with Delta. The next-lowest fare was $914 on Lufthansa. It was more than $1,200 on United, but when I checked different dates, April 9-20, the fare was $536 including tax. From Los Angeles the price was $464 on the same dates, and it was only $324 from New York.

Tip: Are you trying to gather miles? Customers who purchase by March 29 and fly between March 29 and June 30 on a qualifying United round trip between the United States and Moscow can earn up to 10,000 bonus miles:
> 10,000 bonus miles for United First (F and A booking classes)
> 7,500 bonus miles for United Business (C, D and Z booking classes)
> 5,000 bonus miles for United Economy in Y, B, M and H classes
> 3,000 bonus miles in other booking classes of United Economy.
