Celebrity Cruises is having a last-minute 2-day sale (June 24-25)

Celebrity Constellation

Start shopping for new cruise wear. Celebrity is having its two-day sale starting today. Book a cruise Oct. 1, 2008, through Nov. 30, 2009, and get up to $200 onboard credit per stateroom. That’s nice, but those deals are easy to find. What’s great about this sale is that your deposit is reduced by 50% if you book by tomorrow (June 25).

Since I’m not a regular cruiser, I got a little overwhelmed looking at the destinations on the sale page: Alaska, Australia/New Zealand, Bahamas, Canada/New England, Caribbean, Europe, Hawaii/Pacific Northwest, Panama Canal, South America, transatlantic.

What I wanted to know was, which cruises departed from Los Angeles. So, I called the reservation number and had a nice agent help me without any sales pressure. It turns out, there are only three cruises departing from Los Angeles during the sale period.

May 11, 2009 | The Mercury — 13-night Ultimate Alaska. The price was $1,079 per person or $2,638 for two people after taxes and fuel supplement.

April 27, 2009 | The Mercury — 14-night Ultimate Alaska. Inside cabins started at $3,079 per person based on double occupancy. The total price for two came to $6,597 after taxes and fuel supplement.

Jan. 3, 2009 | The Journey — 16-night Panama Canal cruise that departs from L.A. but ends in Miami. (I couldn’t find information about it online, call for more info.) Note: This is an Azamara brand.

Alaska shouldn’ t over react to this announcement the 50. 00 a head has never been that much of expensive for the passengers as they are charged Port fees in their cruise fares anyway.
