Carnival Cruises: No kids allowed

Carnival Evolution of Fun SerenityNews tip: Carnival Cruise Lines is adding a new adults-only section to their Fantasy line of ships. The new “Serenity” outdoor retreat areas have whirlpools, bar service, lounges – and a peaceful setting away from the family-friendly action which the Carnival cruises are known for.

Lest you get confused like I did, “adults-only” does not mean clothing optional, and “Serenity” does not mean specifically for the retired set.

When: The Serenity areas will be installed on the Fantasy line while the ships are in dry dock. First to get the upgrade is the Carnival Inspiration. This ship will have the Serenity section added in October of this year and it leaves on itineraries out of Tampa, Florida. Carnival Paradise is the Fantasy ship that leaves out of California, but it won’t get to dry dock until December of 2008. So if you’re looking for a piece of Carnival serenity for a cruise departing from California, you’ll have to book a cruise during Christmas and New Year’s of 2008, or later.
