Car rental: Free gas from Hertz

Are you considering renting a car over the holidays to avoid the chaos at the airports? If so, check out Hertz’s free tank of gas special. According to Gas Buddy, the average price for a gallon of regular gas is $2.99 in the United States (up 70 cents from last year). In Los Angeles the average is $3.29 a gallon.

Deal: Rent any economy through full-size car with Hertz for a minimum of three days and get a free tank of gas. Use Promotion Code (PC#): 113120 to get the deal and make sure you book in advance. They didn’t say how many days in advance, but when I called to ask about a reservation for tomorrow the deal would apply.

Note: Families, ask about Hertz’s “Nick on the Go” program to get a portable media player pre-loaded with Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. programming including shows such as “Dora the Explorer,” “SpongeBob SquarePants,” “Drake & Josh,” “Avatar: The Last Airbender” and “Jimmy Neutron.”
