Can the Ford Flex 2009 lead you to cheap gas? SWA and British Airways Independence Day airfare deals

Good morning travelers! Lots more road trip news for you today and a few airline deals.

Road Trip | A car that tells you where the cheapest gas is? Dan Neil is in the Rumble Seat and walks us through the Travel Link feature on the Ford Flex 2009. Travel Link ideally leads you to the cheapest gas from whatever location you are in. But as Dan proves, prices are rising faster than technology can keep up.

Airline deals | Friday is a good day to shop for airfare. Southwest Airlines is having a one-day Independence Day Sale. Purchase July 4 betwen 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. PST. for travel Aug. 11 – Oct. 30, 2008. Of course they also have a sale going on right now for flights with 21-day advanced purchase. Contact: Southwest Airlines.

British Airways is also having an Independence Day sale on business class flights to London. Book by July 6 to get round-trip Club World business class seats between New York (JFK) and London (LHR) for $1,776 through December 31, 2008, pre-tax. Flights are $3,294 round trip from Los Angeles (LAX), pre-tax. Travel on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday to get the lowest fares. I tested the L.A. route and found the deal to hold up in early September (Sep. 3-10). The total price came to $3,548 after taxes.
