Can SuperClubs soothe U.S. passport woes?

Grand Lido Negril Resort and Spa by SuperClubsCatharine Hamm is not the only person I know with major passport dilemmas. If you’ve been following along with her passport diaries, I’m willing to bet you’re ailing from sympathy headaches. The question is, when you do get your beloved passport back in your hot little hands, will a trip to the Caribbean be enough to soothe the prior months of agony?

Deal or no Deal? SuperClubs will refund the following passport amounts if you book a select “Super Inclusive” vacation in the Caribbean: $97 for adults, $82 for children under 16 and $67 for renewal passports. The resorts on the list are in Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Curacao and Nassau Bahamas. (Note: There is a four-night minimum). I tried to book an air + hotel package for five days in July at the Grand Lido Resort and Spa (pictured) and it came to $1,260/person for everything including tax based on double occupancy. A stay at Breezes Puerto Plata Beach & Spa Resort in August came to $1,082/person. These prices are before the refund.

Why Go: You might as well get something now that you have the bloody thing back.

Why Not: Even the refund can’t make up for the pain and suffering of the past 16 weeks. And that doesn’t mean the paperwork is over. The redemption procedure is fairly involved and you must mail detailed accounts of your passport purchase 30 days before your vacation. Then, your refund will be credited to the same credit card used on the vacation within 30 days after your trip.
When: Offer is good through July 31, 2007 for travel now through 2008.
