If you need a reason to head off the radar for a couple of days before the weekend, this is it: Midweek spa specials are the flavor of the season in Napa Valley’s Calistoga.
Included with a room-for-two in Mount View Hotel & Spa’s package are two spa treatments: Each guest receives a 25-minute hydrotherapy bath plus a Swedish massage or a facial (both 50 minutes). The total package is $319 (pre-tax), which includes an in-room Continental breakfast, available Sundays through Thursdays until April 30.
You’ve got to act a little more quickly before relaxing into Chelsea Garden Inn’s midweek special, which ends March 16. Guests receive a choice of bath treatments (tubs o’ mud, minerals or seaweed are among the enticing smorgasbord of options) at nearby Lavender Hill Spa, followed by a 30-minute massage. This package costs $330 (pre-tax).
Which should I pick? Chelsea Garden Inn is a small B&B with five one-bedroom suites, which boast a fireplace and private entrance, plus full breakfast (instead of Continental), afternoon hors d’oeuvres and wine-tasting. Mount View Hotel & Spa is larger, more in the luxury-lodge vein, and its spa is on-site (whereas the Chelsea Garden Inn’s spa services are a half-mile down the road). Both have free Wi-Fi.
Both packages are a good deal, since going a la carte instead with room and spa services would result in a heftier bill. As there’s not much difference in price, consider what components are most important to you (e.g., Would you rather have a long massage within quick reach of your room, or a greater choice in bath treatments? Is a luxe hotel or B&B more to your liking?). Check out the respective websites to see which style most takes your fancy. And don’t forget to relax.
