Are road trips on your mind (especially after reading blogger Jen Leo’s post yesterday)? If so, you can glean inspiration from the recently released “California Road Trips 2008.” The free guide features a number of bite-sized articles, divided by region, with listings useful for driving tours up and down California. Suggested stops on driving vacations include a Shasta Cascade monastery where you can sample wine made by monks, kayaking off the Central Coast, a mountain hamlet in the Inland Empire and boutique shopping in San Diego.
The 32-page guide, published by the California Travel & Tourism Commission and Sunset Custom Communications, is available online as an easily navigable e-guide. If you want the print magazine version, you can find it in the June issue of Sunset magazine, or have it mailed to you by calling (877) TOP-DRIVES [867-3748].
This is an annually produced guide, though this year’s version has a new name (it was formerly called “California Drives”). Like last year’s edition, the “California Road Trips 2008″ e-guide has a handy search tool, making it user-friendlier if you’re short on time. A comprehensive mileage chart, alongside a state map with all of the welcome centers marked, makes it useful for on-the-road route planning.
