Have you been thinking about a spring trip to Cabo San Lucas? Travelzoo announced flights from Los Angeles (LAX) to San Jose del Cabo (SJD) for only $250 round trip. The travel site’s e-mail newsletter directed us to its new airfare search engine Fly.com. I thought I’d test this deal on Fly versus Kayak to see how they compared.
Fly: What I like about Fly is that it shows side-by-side pricing for both economy and premium seats. It found economy seats for only $250 round trip on Alaska Airlines, but premium fares were $1,058. Note: Fly is still in Beta.
Kayak: Kayak also found fares for $250 on nearly every date in March. But when I clicked the month view back to February, I found tickets for only $220 round trip on American Airlines (Feb. 24-March 3).
I prefer the monthly rate calendar of Kayak to quickly find the cheapest travel date. But I can see how business/luxe travelers would appreciate the business-fare view of Fly, because that would save them time when searching for flights.

Professional words of wisdom… if you plan to combine your flight with a stay at One & Only Palmilla, Las Ventanas, Esperanza or other top hotels, your best best is to use a good travel agency, specializing in luxury travel. Perks, perks and no hassle.
