Brit Ben Southall’s Canadian girlfriend Bre is currently the luckiest girl in the world. Her man just won the coveted “Best Job in the World” and he’s taking her with him. Sure it was a big PR stunt from Tourism Queensland, but that hardly mattered as hundreds of thousands of people put their hat in the ring to be chosen. Who wouldn’t want to spend six months in a luxury villa on a gorgeous island in the Great Barrier Reef, only to snorkel around and blog about it — not to mention get paid a substantial amount of money? Southall, 34, who hails from Hampshire, England, will have the official title of “Caretaker of the Islands of the Great Barrier Reef”.
Ben will start his new job on July 1 and it will last for 6 months. Not a bad way to make $111,824 (AUD $150,000).
Here’s his Twitter account @bensouthall. Believe it or not, Ben only had only 186 followers when I signed up to follow him. Look out, Ben, that’s about to change with your new job. Be sure to take some great TwitPics.
Here’s Ben’s interview video:
In the last few years Southall worked as a charity events project manager in the U.K. and as a tour guide in Africa.
What kind of tips do you think Bre needs for setting up shop in a luxury villa?

He sounds like a wonderful choice for his fun job! As far as tips for setting up housekeeping: Can they get groceries delivered? How far will they be from a food market and a pharmacy? Be sure the deep freeze works and they have plenty of propane or whatever powers the stove for cooking. Maybe should stock up on essentials so they won’t waste time on trips “out” and can enjoy their marvelous “resort” setting. Forget about TV and videos. Where they’ll be is so much better. Just look around outside — that’s the “video”.
