Brazilian prince, family who feared flying, two Americans among Air France Flight 447 passengers

All hope of finding survivors from the Paris-bound Airbus that went missing in the Atlantic earlier this week has been lost,  Air France officials told families of passengers aboard Flight 447.

Who were the 228 passengers and crew aboard this jetliner that met with tragedy? The list of presumed victims reported in the Independent includes 72 French, 59 Brazilians, 26 Germans, nine Chinese, nine Italians, five British, three Swedes and two Americans, among many others from all over the world.

One of the more widely circulated stories is that of Swede Christine Badre Schnabl and her 5-year-old son, Philipe.  Schnabl had “purposely” traveled on a separate flight from her husband and their 3-year-old daughter because of the couple’s “shared fear of air crashes,” according to the Independent. Her husband and the couple’s daughter were already in Paris, having taken an earlier flight, when they were given the news of the missing aircraft.

A descendant of “Brazil’s last emperor,” Pedro II, was also on the flight. Pedro Luiz de Orleans e Braganca, 26, was on his way to his residence in Luxembourg, reported Bloomberg.

At least two Americans were on board: geologist Michael Harris, who worked in Rio de Janeiro, and his wife, Anne Harris, 54, according to The Times. The couple were reportedly on their way to Europe for both work and leisure.

French President Nicolas Sarkozy and hundreds of others paid their respects to the victims at a memorial service at Paris’ Notre Dame Cathedral on Wednesday. Read “Search and Mourning Continue in Wake of Air France Crash” for more.

    Rumor has it, that there are those in the intelligence community who are very concerned that an EMP device was used, leading to a cascaded destruction of the electrical systems on the plane, but not causing an explosion. The conspiracy nuts are saying that it was a “test run” of the device, in order for it to be used in a future simultaneous attack of planes over major cities. I hope that’s not true.

    After the cowed Bush and Company brought down the towers, I guess anything is possible.

    looks like flight 587,from Nov-2001…where the american conspirators who help on sep-2001, have an accident…and the case was close

    Correction on my previous post: I wrote ” We hope that the route is like a “Bermuda’s Triangle”. Correction: I meant “We hope that the route is NOT like the Bermuda Triangle”.

    Immediately after the incident, Air France directed all web publishers and affiliates not to post their ads for ad promotion/selling. That was a very right move at this sad time for the company, the nation, the airline industry and the victims’ families and friends. As an airline employee I feel with them.
