Big Island, Hawaii: Stay and pay now for a free stay later

I know it’s going to take a darn good deal to get you reading something unrelated to the election today, so how about this teaser for a try: two vacations on the Big Island, Hawaii, for nearly the price of one.

Deal: Stay at the 436-room Royal Kona Resort this year and you get to return for a free stay in 2009. More specifically, if you book a four-night stay at the resort in an ocean-view, ocean-front or ocean-front-corner king room, you’ll receive a certificate for a free three-night stay in the same type of room in 2009. Nightly rates under this promotion start at $180 per night (pre-tax). The resort is in Kailua-Kona, nine miles south of Kona International Airport (KOA).

When: This offer is valid for paid stays now through Dec. 17, 2008. You can redeem your free stay sometime between Jan. 15 and Dec. 17, 2009, though some blackout dates may apply.

Note: If a stay here before the end of this year interests you but you’re not so sure about a second trip in 2009, then you might want to forgo the above deal for one of the resort’s other specials, such as a five-night package with average rates starting at $130 per night (pre-tax) for ocean-view accommodations.
