Mother’s Day (May 11) might be the one holiday that nobody calls a Hallmark holiday. It gets respect. Nobody would deprive a good mom of having a decent day. What are you going to do for your mom — or, the mother of your children? Consider giving mom a luxe brunch getaway where she doesn’t have to cook.
I checked in with some luxe hotels around town to find out if they were doing a special Mother’s Day brunch, and whether or not there were still openings. Seating (and rooms) are going fast so book your plans quickly if you haven’t already.
Tip: Call the hotel for the most current info. Some of the hotels and brunches are already booked up for May 10, but the gift of a Sunday Brunch and a night away from home on another weekend (when it’s not as busy) could be an even better gift.
Hotel Bel-Air: The Hotel Bel-Air Dining Room won the editorial choice for Best Brunch in Los Angeles 2007 from Citysearch. When I called today they said that the three-course brunch ($95) was sold out, but that they were giving first priority wait list to hotel guests. The Spring Special on May 10 costs $545 per night plus 14% tax for a King room with a patio and includes complimentary continental breakfast, parking ($28), a bottle of wine and free Wi-Fi. I was told they only had one or two rooms available on this special. Contact: (800) 648-4097, (310) 472-1211.
The Beverly Hills Hotel and Bungalows: The Polo Lounge made Gayot’s list of the Top 10 Brunch Hotels in the U.S. Mother’s Day Brunch will be a three-course pre-fixe meal for $89 per person. Reservations can be made by calling Audeline 9 a.m.-5 p.m. When I checked online, rooms were available for May 10 starting at $515 (pre-tax). Contact: (310) 276-2251.
