Beating holiday airport security lines

TSA 3-1-1 Carry-On rule imageLong security lines at airports are terrifying. If you don’t travel regularly, you have no idea how long it will take for the line ahead of you to be processed. And when your line gets held up, look out.

Holiday fliers have been told that they should expect long lines. According to an AP report, the Air Transport Assn. says there will be about “27 million passengers worldwide over 12 days beginning Nov. 16, with planes about 90 percent full.” And that’s just on domestic carriers. Veteran travelers can only imagine what the security lines are going to be like if rookie travelers don’t have their liquids together. Here are some tips, please share them if you know anyone who isn’t familiar with the rules.

TSA 3-1-1 carry-on rule
Your liquids have to be in 3-ounce containers and put in 1 quart-sized, clear, plastic zip-top bag. This includes make-up, lotions, toothpaste, gels, etc. It’s best to put as much of this as you can in your checked luggage, buy your toiletries when you get to your destination, or bring travel-size toiletries.
