Stay at one of three B&Bs in the heart of the historic district of Oaxaca, Mexico, including a cooking school. The Cabrera’s have been hosting families for nearly 20 years. Choose from the original Casa de las Bugambilias, Casa de los Milagros (only has three rooms) and Casa de los Sabores (for the cooking school).
Deals at Casa de las Bugambilias: Rooms cost $50 for a single, and $65-$95 for two persons. Terrace rooms with air conditioning cost $105 and suites are $115-$135. All rates include breakfast, Wi-Fi, calls back to the U.S. and 18% tax. Get 10 or 15% off when you pay in cash at Bugambilias and Milagros respectively.
Have you been to Oaxaca this year? Did the town feel settled and safe to you? Why Go: You’re tired of the large hotel chains and looking for a more cultural experience on your next vacation. These B&Bs are also an interesting choice for travelers shopping for Mexican art and handicrafts.
Why Not: Your travels are tenuous. Minimum two-night stay. Reservations can only be canceled 20 days prior to arrival and there will be a $50 charge per room. The cancellation charge within 20 days is 30% of the total room bill. No cancellation refund is possible during Day of The Dead (Oct. 30 - Nov. 3), Christmas and New Years (Dec. 21 - Jan. 4), Easter and Guelaguetza (July 16-28).
When: Prices quoted are 2007 rates.
Contact: Casa de las Bugambilias. Reserve online or by telephone (866) 829-6778, only from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., Monday - Saturday.

I just returned from Oaxaca and I must say that I am impressed. I was there last year during the demonstrations and felt rather uneasy. However, Oaxaca looks better than ever at the present. Much of the graffiti has been cleaned and many buildings have been restored. There is also a massive police presence which does put you at ease. If you have wanted to go to Oaxaca, GO NOW! It is better than ever! Feliz viaje!

Students in cooking schools are trained with basic to advanced cooking skills. They learn to cook delicious cuisines using raw ingredients. The chefs also tell them about the natural and healthy living.

Cute and the average price looks to be $100 per night for 2.
